2019 Qld Independent Secondary Schools Netball (QISSN) Carnival
Shalom Catholic College will be hosting the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball Carnival from Sunday 30 June to Friday 5 July 2019.
The QISSN Carnival is the premiere secondary school netball competition in Queensland. The 2019 QISSN carnival will attract approximately 640 school girlnetball players from 64 secondary schools throughout Queensland, from as far away as
the Gold Coast to Mt Isa to Cairns. Also, 200 officials and volunteers and in excess of 2000 spectators from all over the state are expected, making it one of the biggest school based carnivals in the country. QISSN will bring significant economic benefits and exposure to the Bundaberg region.
The inaugural QISSN Carnival was hosted by Shalom College in 2000 with a modest 16 teams and in 2018 the QISSN executive made the decision to expand to 64 teams due to the popularity of the carnival. Nearly 7000 girls have participated in QISSN in it’s previous 19 carnivals, with a number of previous participants going on to represent their state or country at a professional level, including former Bundaberg local and former St Luke’s Anglican College student Ameliaranne Wells.
